About Our Aims

Kalkan Association for the Protection of Street Animals (or KAPSA for short), is a small Turkish registered charity. It was founded in 2008 by a group of like minded people wanting to improve the lives of street animals. KAPSA is run solely by volunteers and completely funded by donations. KAPSA also has the assistance of a UK registered charity, Friends of KAPSA (UK) that is dedicated to raising and providing funds to support the work in Kalkan. We are constantly striving to ensure the animals in Kalkan, and the surrounding villages remain healthy and cared for.

KAPSA VISION

A Kalkan where street animals live healthy, happy lives in harmony with their human neighbours.

OUR CORE ACTIVITIES….

  • To prevent the birth of unwanted animals in Kalkan and the surrounding villages by neutering/spaying (TNR – Trap, Neuter and Return).
  • To provide veterinary care for sick and injured animals.
  • To find suitable homes wherever possible, both in Turkey and abroad.
  • To ensure the animals of Kalkan do not starve once the tourist summer season has ended, by providing food through our winter feeding programme.
  • To work with the local community to show the importance of having owned animals neutered.
  • To improve public understanding and treatment of animals through education programs. To increase local awareness of, and compassion for street animals.

More detailed information on these core activities can be found throughout this website.
