Donate Your Kalkan Dinner

**Update December 2020

Please keep donating to this appeal, our ‘Winter’ Feeding Program did manage a brief respite period in late summer, but of course we are already back in full swing. Added to this are few if any visitors over the Christmas/New Year period, more flight cancellations and restrictions and the upshot is the animals need even more help. For those reasons, we are keeping this appeal going and once again cannot thank our supporters enough for their help. So many animals would go hungry without you!

2020 hasn’t quite turned out to be the year we were all looking forward to or planning at all. A global pandemic has changed all our lives in ways we never imagined might happen in the modern world. We are all living with travel and socialising restrictions, not only keeping people away from their Kalkan holidays, but even keeping them away from friends and loved ones.

We all understand the reasons for these restrictions, as hard as they are, but our animals don’t, and in particular our street animals. By now they are usually starting to enjoy the benefits of visitors returning to give them attention and the restaurants and cafes opening, providing a food source and the KAPSA winter feeding program can wind down.

This year, we have not started that winding down, and despite the difficulties of feeding with even fewer volunteers available to us thanks to isolation restrictions, we have continued to feed the street animals. This is a huge drain on our resources, but we will continue to do it until Kalkan can reopen again, visitors are welcomed back and the restaurants and cafes are open. We hope and pray that will happen this summer, but we have to be prepared and plan ahead, facing the reality that it could mean running a full feeding program until April 2021.

We know many of you have already had your holidays cancelled, trips postponed, and face a lot of uncertainly about future travel. Many of you are still waiting to hear if your visits will go ahead, especially those later in the summer. So, it is with a great sense of awareness of the problems you all face that we launch this campaign to help our street animals.

We are asking you to think about all those meals you were planning at your favourite restaurants, and donate the cost of that one dinner to help feed the animals. A bag of dog or cat kibble can’t quite compare with your favourite Turkish cuisine, but the animals will appreciate it just as much.

So, please please please, fill out the form below and Donate a Kalkan Dinner you would have had during your holiday to a street animal and help to ensure none of them go hungry this year.

Thank you again for all your help, we really cannot do our work without the generous donations from our supporters.
