Can you Cherish Little Dog Cherry? ADOPTED
One of our amazing Turkish volunteers found this little girl and is looking after her. She now needs a loving home of her own, can you help? Here is her story, as told by Gulfem.
I found this little girl on the forest road between Yesilkoy and Akbel. She had her mum with her, who was exactly same colour. Mum came quite close, but I couldn’t touch her. I tried many times, but with no luck. However this sweet little girl came, licked my hand and I realised she had a small problem in one of her back legs. I had a dog and a cat in the car already, but I had to take her and get her looked at by the vet.
An Xray showed a break which had healed by itself, so nothing can be done about that. Her blood tests were good, so she was neutered. She was full of ticks and fleas, so we treated her for those too. She is around 6-7 months old and about 7-8kgs in size – a small, sweet, beautiful girl. She stayed with me for the night, but I had to take her back where I found her the following day as I already have a full house. I planned to keep checking her and her Mum to make sure they were doing well.

Little Cherry had other ideas and found my house!!
In fact she found it 3 times. On the first 2 occasions I took her back, but when she came back for the 3rd time I felt there must be a reason – I had this previously with a dog called Zoe and her mum Holly. Same thing happened, they kept finding my house. I then found out that Holly had a dislocated hip and Zoe had anaplasma. So even though I have a full house, I followed my instincts and let Cherry stay. Sometimes she came inside and sometimes out, we managed.

Cherry was eating and drinking, her poo & pee looked normal, but something felt wrong. So I took little Cherry to the vets again. Tests showed she had anaplasma – her blood work was ok when she was neutered but Hasan said virus could have been in it’s incubation period at that time. She will use antibiotics for a month and will be checked again, luckily it is totally curable.
Her vaccinations have been done, and a titer test can be done soon. So we are looking for a home for little Cherry. She really is a sweetheart, so well behaved for a puppy, and a total lovebug. She is a typical Kalkan dog, with a long body and short legs. Can you please help so we can find a home for her.. Thank you
